A drone is an aircraft without any human pilot, crew, or passengers on board, which is also called
unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or unmanned aircraft system (UAS). It can be controlled remotely
and fly autonomously via an embedded system that can work in conjunction with positioning systems like GPS and Beidou. There are numerous types of drones developed and in use all over the world. However, they can be classified into the following 4 main types.
- Multi-rotor drones
Multi-rotor drones are drones coming with multiple rotors, for example, tricopters, quadcopters, hexacopters and more. Quad copters are most widely used.
2. Fixed-wing drones
Fixed-wing drones are those drones like airplanes that are coming with fixed wings.
- Single-rotor drones
Single-rotor drones are drones equipped with only one rotor.
- Fixed-wing hybrid VTOL drones
Fixed-wing hybrid VTOL drones mean fixed-wing drones that can take off and land vertically without running on any runway.
